11 Morning Sickness Remedies (That Actually Work)

You have heard it before: women suffer through 'morning sicknes,' but sadly enough...very few actually ONLY struggle in the morning. It should really be termed morning + afternoon + evening sickness.

Rather than discussing the WHY we have morning sickness, let's talk about what can offer relief. 1. Eat more protein

Food that takes longer to absorb will keep the stomach acids lower; thus, fewer bouts of nausea. Think nuts, beans, hummus, eggs, steak, beef, chicken, fish.... make sure that every 2 hours you are getting protein. 2. Fresh ginger tea

Take slivers of fresh ginger and pour hot water and some honey over it. Sip and enjoy. 3. Keep up your electrolytes

By drinking coconut water, or another drink that has added electrolytes, you will have some relief from the elevated HcG levels causing nausea.

Instead of drinking Gatorade or Powerade which has added sugar, try adding some of that beautiful pink Himalayan sea salt you've seen around to all of your dishes. Not only will it help replenish your electrolytes, but it will give you a source of dozens of other minerals that have been stripped from your everyday table salt... including much needed iron for pregnant mamas (the iron in the salt gives it the pink hue!).

They offer pressure on points inside your wrist to alleviate the feelings of nausea for many women.

5. "Beet" Morning Sickness!

This fresh-pressed juice combination has shown to help- partially because it is supporting the liver, and partially because it is something simple to sip on throughout your day.

To prepare:

Juice fresh carrots and beets separately. Combine when ready to drink with a sliver of ginger. That's it!

6. MAKE SURE you don't get an empty belly!

(This is COMICAL to those of us who have ZERO appetite during this stage...) the empty stomach creates an ABUNDANCE of stomach acids....which leads to mouth watering and ....NAUSEA! (go back to eating protein every 2 hours- which leaves little time for empty stomachs) 7. Get in your B-Complex vitamins

B6 and B 12 are your new friends. They not only give you a boost of energy (to make it into the kitchen and fix yourself some food) but they also help with nausea. 8. Up your dose of raw apple cider vinegar

There are so many benefits to RAW apple cider vinegar. This brand is by far the best. Add 2TB raw apple cider vinegar and 2 TB honey with 1/2 a squeezed of lemon juice in warm water. Some women who have become accustomed to taking apple cider vinegar daily may need to increase it from there. 9. Get yourself some ginger chew candies!

Life savers for my 8th pregnancy! You can find some here. 10. Zinc supplements.

11. Acupuncture treatments help TONS. They balance your energy which is often the cause of morning sickness in the first place. Search for a provider in your area. Often community-based accupuncture is a more affordable route if money is an issue.
