Kira intuitively knew that she had something greater to do with her life than cut hair and paint nails. She received her cosmetology license and graduated with her “Mrs.” and “Mommy” degree during her course of Marriage and Family studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho.

Giving birth to her daughter was an incredible experience, but she had a few frightening hours where a c-section seemed eminent, and in hindsight she realized that she hadn’t been prepared emotionally or intellectually to accept any outcome in birth. She quickly discovered that she wasn’t the only mom experiencing this: despite having taken a childbirth class, women felt under-prepared and guilty when things took an unexpected turn. It wasn’t until after the birth of her son that she decided to do something about it. She knew that birth preparation needed to go back into the hands of the mom–allowing her to create her own experience and make the decisions that were best for her family. Hence, The Mommy Method was born. She now considers it her life mission to help women approach birth and motherhood with confidence, and by so doing, transform their births into empowering and beautiful experiences.
